Today we rigged for my LX show in the theatre, preparing for tomorrow to record videos of the final outcome. There were some issues such as at first, no lights were receiving DMX data from my laptop and the lighting desk, the solution was to check the lights one by one until we found an issue, which we found that it was a dead cable that needed to be switched out, so that’s what we did, we switched out the cable and we then received DMX data in all fixtures, which then I was able to control from my laptop again. Sadly, I did not manage to find the time to stop and take pictures as it was a very busy day and a little stressful when coming across issues such as the one I just mentioned. But I am excited for the final result tomorrow, also using smoke to create beams and a good effect so that the camera can also pick up the light easier. There were 24 lights total involved, which were 20 colorsource spots and 4 MH2s, unfortunately I could not hang the MH2s as I wanted and programmed, but instead I placed 2 on either side of the mezzanine to create a different effect.

This is the day I recorded the light show to the song I programmed it to, which was “I Need Love” by Zara Larsson. The show worked really well, especially with smoke as I was able to see the beams coming from each light which made it look even better. I again do not have any pictures of this, but have a video, unfortunately I do not have the IT skills to get it on here, but if in the near future I find out how, it will definitely be going on this blog. After recording and getting the climax done, it was time to de-rig the lights, all 24 had to be de-cabled and taken of the bars, so I went around getting all the cables, coiling them up and using tape to keep the neatly coiled, and then sorted the lights into two lots of 26̇ degrees and 50 degrees lenses. During these two days, I have communicated with Jo, Nigel and Jocelyn, who have helped me get what I need done such as a rigging plan (Below) and helping me rig the lights in the right places according to my rigging plan, which I had help from Maria in drawing a well communicated drawing, as we were drawing it, we went of a very basic plan I drew up on paint, on my laptop.

This is the basic Rig Plan I drew up on paint, which as you can see is very simple and basic.

The following link is to the Rigging plan Maria helped me with, which is more technical than the plan drawn on paint. These measurements were not accurate completely but were a guide as to how close each light was to each other, the centre bar, or the trussing at the side.
