Above is a beam of light, used with smoke, lighting can bring out a whole new world, a universe full of imagination. in this picture, British artist Antony McCall used digital projectors to beam shapes onto surfaces that are carefully positioned around the exhibition space. this interests me because im fascinated in creating beams with lighting, and projection is i guess, under the lighting banner, as well as it is under the video banner. to gain this effect, designers and operators will use smoke or haze to create the beam coming from the light source, but each light has different attributes, such as red, green and blue, or gobos which essentially are cool patterns you can use to create some great beam effects, or to create a drawing on the floor or another flat surface, you also have prisms, you can get 3 facet prisms, or some lights even have 5 facet prisms. A prism is a triangular device, simply made of plastic or glass, and when a light travels through the prism, it bends due to refraction, which is the process of bending light as it goes from one medium such as air, to another medium such as glass or water.
what have I been doing recently?

Today, i decided to use the ADJ Mydmx 3.0 visualiser software to re-create the rig that is currently in the theatre. The rig is currently built with 2 different types of lighting fixtures which is a profile (generic ), and the other is a moving head (Intelligent). the profiles you have to focus and shape yourself, the colours, and dimming are controlled by the lighting consoles we have, which currently is the RoadHog 4 and we have two of these consoles to be installed for studio use for students, and then for the theatre we will have a GIO console which is a more theatrical lighting desk.
So far, i am developing my skills and learning so much, such like the bounce from lighting, angle of incidence, how to program on the Hog 4 console, how to properly focus a lighting fixture, power and DMX fixtures to their addresses and their correct channels.
